Join us in celebrating John Brann Day! John was a big thinker with an entrepreneurial spirit. His first enterprise was “The Stag Bar” that he opened when he was 27 years old. Later he moved on to the restaurant game and opened a steakhouse in Burton Heights.

In 1960 John Brann opened the first John Brann’s Steakhouse in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His mission for the steakhouse was to provide a restaurant where families could get a good meal for an affordable price. It soon became a popular place for families to gather on the weekends. He started selling 800 Sizzling Steak dinners on Saturday nights!

Brann’s is where the famous Sizzling Steak got its beginning. The company grew beyond the first location. Brann’s Steakhouse & Grille now has multiple restaurants across Michigan and is heavily involved in the communities they serve. There are five partners: Tom Brann, president of the company; brothers Johnny and Mike Brann; and 3rd generation Johnny Jr. and Mike Jr.

In the fall of 2001, former mayor John Logie proclaimed the first official John Brann Day. Brann’s has celebrated this day ever since! Visit your favorite location to celebrate with us on August 19 to enjoy $4.99 6 oz. Steak & Bake with salad and yeast rolls!
