In 1960 John Brann Sr. opened the first John Brann’s Steakhouse in Grand Rapids
Michigan. This is where the famous Sizzling Steak got its beginning. John wanted
to make sure that families could go out to eat and get a great meal at a great price.
The idea caught on because they were selling 800 Sizzling Steak dinners on Saturday
nights! WOW!
After noticing how successful their father was, some of the family wanted to get
involved. John’s eldest son, Tommy Brann was the first. He had worked for his dad
ever since he was able to and at age 19 opened Tommy Brann’s Steakhouse in Wyoming,
Michigan. Tommy had a great worker in Tom Doyle and after Tom Doyle graduated from Michigan
State University, Tommy Brann opened a new location with Tom Doyle at the helm.
From here, Brann’s just started to BOOM! Johnny Jr. and Mike Brann started another
Grand Rapids location and the family and Tom Doyle decided to develop their business
ideals, philosophies and a culture.
The name was changed to Brann’s Steakhouse & Grille and the menu changed to reflect
the name. Brann’s now offers a wide variety of USDA Choice Steaks along with fantastic
Burgers, Salads and Sandwiches. We also feature an upbeat Sports Bar with numerous
large TV screens in each location. Brann’s Steakhouse & Grille is truly unique,
offering the great steaks of a steakhouse and the exciting grille food such as sandwiches,
salads and burgers. All under one roof.
Since then, we have opened Brann’s Steakhouse & Grilles in Cascade, Grandville,
Holland, Portage, Muskegon, Northville and our latest in Macomb Township. Our latest
ventures have increased our presence in the east side of the state where we have
been given an opportunity to spread our fantastic and affordable food, hospitality
and fun.
 The partnership is now called Sizzlin 5 Corporation and involves Tom, John & Mike Brann, Tom Doyle and Dave Lahay. In 1995 we opened a new division called Brann’s Catering and the facility Brann’s Wedding & Conference Center, located in Wyoming, Michigan. We are now one of the largest caterers in West Michigan and we will cater an event to any location in West Michigan. And though we are growing, we always will stay in touch with what brought us to where we are today: A great Sizzling Steak at a great price, and a fun environment to enjoy dinner and time with your family.
